The Mobile Radiocommunications Laboratory (MRCL) is affiliated with the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), and also affiliated with Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS). The laboratory was established in 1989 by Prof. Philip Constantinou (1946-2014) and since 1999 has acted as an official research unit (Law 307A, Hellenic Gazette 31/12/1999), providing services both for academia and the industry. Since 2015, the Director of the laboratory is Prof. Konstantina Nikita.

MRCL is accredited, since 2009, by the Hellenic Accreditation System, according to EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard for Electromagnetic (E/M) Field measurements from 75 MHz to 18 GHz.

The main activities of the laboratory include radiocoverage measurements and studies for mobile terrestrial and satellite communications, interference measurements and studies for wireless communications systems, and E/M background measurements. Since 2002, the laboratory provides non-ionizing E/M Field measurement services to determine the human exposure limits in accordance with the imposed legislation.
